Pastel of Afternoon Light in California

I did this pastel while in California and my husband and son where shooting trap. The day was beautiful and although I was sitting at the bottom of a small hill and looking up, the picture looks a little less upward than it really was. While drawing, I had my ear plugs in, so I didn't get to hear the trees moving and making the wonderful noise that they often do. Sort of drawing in a vaccuum, which was really kind of strange, not being able to hear anything but your own breathing and the occasional blast from the guns. This was certainly one of my stranger times outdoors and drawing.

Hi Laura. I just love this. The shadows are spectacular! I would so like to climb this hill - if it's not too steep.
