I did this pastel some time ago and it still amuses and makes me happy when I look at it. It's quite large and framed in a heavy, brass frame. Trees do dance and do it often. Mostly they like the waltz and the cha cha. Personally, I prefer the Lindy. Some of my work and my thoughts on the problems, joy, humor, frustration and pain of being an artist.

California Fields Oil
I have finally gotten around to organizing my many pictures from our trip to California. I have many scenes of fields and trees, cows grazing and the sun setting over lush green hills. More than likely, I will never get to paint them all and sadly, I am not there to do it plein aire. All of the rain that spring brought left everything green and lush which will surely change as summer progresses and the grass turns to silver grey.

Got A Thing for Trees
Trees have always been like people to me. Tall and proud or aged and bent, they grow and develop just as we do. So, painting them seems like doing a portrait of someone's face, for no two trees are alike. These trees and bushes were stuck on a hillside in Wiesloch, back behind the vineyard we often walked. I have a gazillion photos of trees and will need to sort through them all to decide what to work on next.
