Yesterday I decided that I needed to get back to my pastels. I think that oils and pastels are a natural combo and that flipping between the two only makes each one better. Rather than go to my folder of "To Do Art", make a sketch, lay it all out, etc., I decided to just have some fun. I gave myself permission to just let it rip. This means for me that if I create something horrific I won't beat myself up, feels as if I wasted materials or time and that it is ok to just play regardless of the outcome. No planning, strictly feeling.
Now, I could draw fruit all day long. Pears, apples, grapes...you name it. These lovely shapes and their infinite variations in color have always intrigued me. So when I decided to draw some fruit I knew from past experience just what "fruit" meant to me. I wanted my fruit to be just boiled down, hence, my Distilled Fruit.
These are 4x6, matted in a 12x12 white museum mat, black museum frame.
I like em.
